"Kevin's Playlist" - November 9, 2018
After receiving a playlist via snail mail from their uncle, Kevin, Jenn and Nang have Kevin break down which songs he picked and why. He tells the story of when his brother Steve (Jenn & Nang's dad) got a brand new car and barreled through their mom's subdivision in suburban Detroit blasting Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al." Or when he came home from college with cassette tapes full of rock and Motown tracks Kevin had never heard before. They discuss the importance of original versions, as is particularly the case with "Perfect" by nihilist post-punk rockers The The. Nang talks about the time she cried while listening to Reel Big Fish.

"Road trip" - October 26, 2018
Jenn flies solo on this one, playing her favorite road trip jams after her trip to Michigan last weekend. Top tracks include Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips and more to belt at the top of your lungs while speeding down the freeway. She talks about seeing Watsky at the Rave on Friday and how an opening act reminded her of when her dad would play the drums in the basement. Expect an extra-special guest in the coming weeks, as Jenn and Nang's uncle, Kevin, mailed in a playlist when they were home and will call in sometime early November!

"Back to the mitten!" - October 21, 2018
In lieu of a live stream, Jenn and Nang go home to the suburbs of Detroit and chat in their childhood bedroom. Claire, their youngest sister, joins to talk about their dad's fear of heights and affinity for expensive drones. The three bond over being band geeks and call Nang out on her pestiness. Jenn tells two tales of accidental shoplifting and Claire candidly shares the significance of the movement "Venus" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets." Also, a shout out to our Uncle Kevin for mailing in a new playlist for next week's show.

"Ice Cream and airplanes" - October 12, 2018
This week we chat with John Burke, a friend of Jenn's with an affinity for classic tunes and dad culture. John talks about sad Neil Young songs, playing guitar with his dad in hometown bars, and his adventures flying in private airplanes. We play Jenn's favorite Jonathan Richman song, "Ice Cream Man" and bring back the game "Dad Cards" to conjure up some memories. Jenn and Nang tell stories about visiting the Dover Air Force Base and hiking in the Smoky Mountains. And we ponder the legality of driving tractors in downtown Chicago, but we'll leave that experiment open to any innovative ice cream sellers that want to bring something new to the city.

"Paul simon fan club" - October 5, 2018
Rachel Garcia joins to talk about her dad, rock n' roll Chicago lawyer Chris Garcia, and how growing up in a family that always played music influenced her love for Santana and Pink Floyd (among others). Rachel tells the story about when she and her dad became reluctant Lady Gaga fans and how her parents met. Jenn talks about the significance of "Girlfriend in a Coma" by The Smiths and the trips to Best Buy where her dad showed off the washing machines he made parts for. We fangirl over Paul Simon and the time we saw him live in Chicago (thanks to Mr. Garcia), plus Jenn quizzes Rachel on some album trivia. Shouts to Garcia family for always being supportive, wonderful friends.

"dad beer" - september 28, 2018
Special guest Natalie Wickman joins to talk about Wilco, Fountains of Wayne and all the songs about girls named Jennifer. We discuss dad beer, dad bars and special drinks, like Moscow Mules and hard cider. Natalie talks about a tradition she has with her dad at the Two Brothers Roundhouse in her hometown of Aurora, Illinois. Jenn tells the story of the time her dad faked her 21st birthday so she could order wine at a steak restaurant. Plus we air an archived recording of Steve and his friend George playing Miley Cyrus's "Party in the U.S.A."

"'Dad Rock?' Don't you mean 'Dads Rock?!!!'" -Natalie's dad
"intro" - September 21, 2018
We kick off our first show with a marathon of favorites -- Los Lonely Boys, The Housemartins and Van Morrison, among others. Jenn shares the history of her first iPod and how she fell in love with Paul Simon. Nang tells a story about the time our dog, Buddy, almost burnt our house down on July 4th and tells a crappy dad joke. And by the inherent laws of the universe, we close out with Earth, Wind and Fire's "September." Plus lots of shoutouts to our family and friends: thanks for the endless love and support.

"It's one thing to kind of play music into the void, but it's another thing when people actually listen. It gives us a lot of purpose here."
